Now that life has pretty much returned to normal, we are starting to have fun with fashion again.
And with summer just around the corner, this couldn’t have come at a better time!
Fashion is all about having fun and expressing our personalities, but after two years of wearing loungewear, many of us have had to rediscover our personal style and what suits our shape and size.

One of the biggest statements when it comes to fashion is that black is the top colour to wear if you want to appear slimmer.
But as we head into the sunshine season, top fashion designer Aoife McNamara disagrees with this belief and is an advocate for colourful clothing.
If you want to look slimmer and complement your body more, Aoife advises searching for the right shape rather than colour.
She tells RSVP Live: “I think it’s all about the cut of the garment when it comes to enhancing the silhouette of the body, and for me, it’s all about embracing colour.
“I know some people don’t like to be out there, and that’s totally fine, they prefer to have muted tones and not be centre stage.
“But this summer people want to have fun again, so I wouldn’t shy away from colours. If someone walks into the room with colour they always inject happiness into the room.
“I think people should give a bit more colour a go. They might think they hate it, but until they try it they never know, and they might end up loving it.”
Speaking about the clothes that are going to make waves in the fashion industry this summer, Aoife predicts party dresses will be all the rage because, as she said, people want to dress up and have fun again.
“Shortcut, bright and colourful dresses are really pretty and fun to wear, and will be big this summer as everyone is so excited to get dressed up again,” she explained.
“I’m also really into big bow features, which is a classic feature of mine since I’ve started designing.
“This summer, it’s all about clothes you want to have a party in.”
This month, the Limerick designer released her latest collection – ‘Enchanted by Nature, in a Disenchanted World’.
Aoife says she drew inspiration from her love of the outdoors to create the line, which features beautiful dresses, jackets and woollen pieces.
Speaking about the new collection, she told us: “For me, this collection tells the story of a young girl who fell in love with, and has become immersed in, the beauty of nature.
“As a designer, nature is where I find my inspiration from whenever it comes to styling a new collection.
“It also tells the story of the impact that the fashion industry and society is having on our environment. A big thing for my brand is creating a conscious consumer and finding out ways to help the earth.
“When it comes to colours, we have beautiful pastels, fresh mint greens, and pretty pinks inspired by sunsets. We use natural materials in our clothing too – Irish wool and linen.”
The ‘Enchanted By Nature, In a Disenchanted World’ collection is exclusively available at the Aoife McNamara Kildare Village pop-up store, open until 24th April, and launches on aoifemacnamara.com and in Aoife’s Cottage, Adare, Co. Limerick on 26th April.
