Five Significant Trends to Watch for This Autumn

Decoding This Season’s Colour Trends

Any lover of fashion who has made their rounds to the stores lately already knows that this season is seeing a massive amount of oranges and reds. The Pantone Color Institute – a leading expert of colour trends – reports that we will be seeing a strong and bold colour palette in evidence this autumn. However, if the colours Orange Tiger and Chili Pepper sound too extreme for your taste, or you aren’t sure how they will look with your colouring, consider investing in a bright orange bag or another colourful accessory instead.

Prints and Checks

Prints dominated last season’s fashion – everything from polka dots to floral – while checks look to be defining the upcoming autumn season. If your wardrobe is lacking, then it’s time to make an investment in a check blazer or trousers. While yellow mustard scarves and red checks were featured on the AW19 catwalks, as the trend starts making its way to high street it is expected you will be seeing softer check patterns incorporating mustard, olives, and browns. Just like neon is destined to be with us for a while longer, the animal print trend is here to stay as well. However, the focus this season is going to be on both jewelled and muted hues of mock snakeskin. You can especially expect to see plenty of mock-snakeskin boots around, which were prominently featured on both the Givenchy and Michael Kors catwalks. If you are lacking in animal print clothes, you can always do a quick update by adding a hair accessory, scarf, or bag to your autumn wardrobe.

Vintage Girlish Style

This fall, go with fairytale style by choosing some very girlish fashion. We mean things like blouses with puffy sleeves, skirts with ruffles, and dresses sporting features. To complement this extreme form of feminity, we are also seeing pearl earrings re-emerge. Models featured in the Chanel, Prabal Gurang, and Burberry shows were all wearing baroque pearl earrings, ranging from heart-shape drops to pearls inside of oyster shells, to give the vintage trend a 21st century twist. If you would like to give this trend a subtle nod, pearl stud earrings are a highly effective yet simple way to get your jewellery box updated.

Belts and Knits Everywhere

After baring your skin all summer long, it is very comforting to don your oversized knitwear once again. This autumn argyle knits and chunky jumpers are destined to be big. I don’t know how you feel about that, but it’s a big relief for us! You don’t have to worry about looking frumpy any longer due to the next hug trend about to hit the high street this autumn.

Most likely you have seen them around already – all of those waist-cinching belts. The 70s classic trend is back this season with a vengeance. This is a great way to update your current wardrobe since you can buy a new wide belt that can be wrapped around everything from blazers and coats to shirts and knitwear. This trend also compliments the feminine, girly silhouette that is destined to be very popular with the change of the season.

Statement Bags

Forget about this summer’s small totes. This autumn, statement and supersized bags will be making a big comeback. It is a practical option since you will be able to hold more than just your lip balm. Search for bags in rich autumn tones like burgundy or metallics. Instead of buying a new bag, you can also consider updating your old one instead. Bag straps are very popular and make it possible to interchange the style of your bag to fit with your outfit and the current season.
