In fashion, colour palette reflects the mood of the world, says designer

Sanghmitra Singh, a national secretary and organisational in charge (middle east), of an NGO- Human Rights Violations Control Cell (HRVC), is also a fashion stylist who has styled for Hindi TV actors. Bringing a unique balance to the two passions of her life- human rights activism and fashion, Singh says everything is just a matter of following your heart, whether its wearing clothes or wearing your empathy as a human being.
Ask if if fashion has been affected by the pandemic and she says, “Fashion never gets affected by anything, it’s an inspiration in itself.” She adds that the colour palette of this year will assume the contemporary scenario of the pandemic though. “Colours are the medium to analyse the current mood or perspective of the world. So, yes, colours this season will be yellow and grey, symbolising positivity and somber mood.”

Having styled celebrities, she says , “They prefer basic elements in styling rather than fads. When it comes to showing who you are with your clothes, it’s very unique and individual. Some might say the dress is unique and others may not like it, it’s all very subjective.”

In the current age of the social media, Singh says the youth is losing itself to the influence of the world, without holding on to their own signature style. “My advice for youngsters is, create a signature style that is yours and is ageless. But anyone can get started in creating their own style by convincing their perception, but it should be personal. Style is an experiment – you never know what wonderful looks await you unless you are in the changing room. Always play with colours, be experimental, create something extraordinary.”
