This comes after a dry spell for fans of the main game series, who had to wait 8 years between the release of New Leaf on 3DS and New Horizons for Nintendo Switch. New Horizons has been a huge success, with an insane number of monthly downloads, likely due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Nintendo has invested heavily in the rebirth of the series and recently announced a new line of official Animal Crossing makeup.
