While The North Face has long been associated as a brand to tackle extreme weather, it seems that it is the go-to for the stars when it comes to extreme comfiness.
The outdoor recreation label has released a slew of high-end, celeb-adored collaborations in recent months; from the radically-shaped MM6 Maison Margiela one to the hippy-chic Gucci collection that is so pretty that wearing it would be motivation enough to peel yourself off the couch and get out for some fresh air.
New data from the online shopping platform, Lyst, shows that one particular The North Face puffer is utterly inescapable right now.
The North Face’s 1996 Nuptse retro puffer jacket was the most-searched-for item in the last three months of 2020, WWD reports.
It saw off stiff competition from other stylish cold-weather essentials, like Bottega Veneta’s Lug stomper boots and Stand Studio’s Nikki check faux fur coat.
Not only that, but the publication notes that for the first time, The North Face’s 1996 Nuptse puffer received the highest searches on both the women and menswear product rankings.
The boxy puffer took over the 90s and now it’s here to slay again with Emily Ratajkowski, Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid giving it the celebrity stamp of approval.
So what is it about this €280 puffer that makes it the must-have coat for winter?
It’s water-resistant, quick-drying and filled with super-soft goose feathers so it will keep you warm and dry.
It can be packed away perfectly into its pocket, so it’s ideal for our changeable weather if you’re just on-the-go or hiking up a mountain for that matter.
It also comes in a range of chic colourways, from bright yellow to soft lavender.
Unsurprisingly, the 1996 Retro Nuptse is largely out of stock, but there are a couple of sizes available in some colours on the North Face site.
