isha Nonoo is no stranger to a sartorial staple.
The British-Bahraini fashion designer founded her eponymous label in 2011, and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
Not only has sustainability been at its core, long before it became the buzzword in the industry, but Nonoo was also a finalist for the coveted CFDA Award in 2013 (better known as the Oscars of fashion) and also has a notable sell-out collaboration with her friend Meghan Markle under her, no doubt designer, belt.
Nonoo is also preparing to launch her ‘Perfect 10’ capsule collection later this month, which is comprised of timeless and seasonless pieces that she believes should form the basis of every wardrobe. Think pared-back and minimal basics with serious panache.
As a self-professed champion of women, Nonoo has also tapped on ten imitable women that she feels best embodies the fearlessness of her brand to model, from the founder of DREST, Lucy Yeomans, to former Executive Fashion Director at British Vogue, Serena Hood.
Being the nosey parkers that we are here at the Standard, we wanted to know just how Nonoo manages to squeeze it all in, while also managing to have a flawless complexion (maybe she was born with it?) and look perenially fabulous. From Dr. Barbara Sturm to one helluva good cover-up concealer, these are the pieces Misha Nonoo couldn’t do without. Race you to the checkout.
What does 2021 look like at present for you?
Whilst we still have lots of Coronavirus restrictions in the US, we have some super exciting collaborations and partnerships launching this year with a hotel group, a swimwear brand and a rental platform so lots to look forward to. Watch this space…
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?
I am personally not particularly keen on New Year’s resolutions – I prefer to live with intentionality every day and often resolve to do things differently at multiple points in the year. I don’t believe we need to wait until the end of the year or the beginning of a new year to resolve ourselves to do something.
What are your five WFH wardrobe staples?
I have made a point of getting dressed every single morning as it is good for the mindset. None of this working in PJs.
What’s your skincare routine?
What is the one item you can’t live without?
My Smythson yearly planner. I start every year with a personalised one and it helps me plan and look forward to the year ahead. Granted, however, that last year’s didn’t get much action. I also could not live without my passport – it also didn’t get much action last year but it is my most prized possession.
How do you incorporate time for yourself into your schedule?
Despite having a baby, I still try and meditate for twenty minutes each morning when I wake up. It helps me get in the zone and feel grounded.
What has been your favourite guilt-free pandemic purchase?
Supplements from The Nue Co. Definitely worth investing in your health at the moment! I am also a matcha addict and buy ceremonial grade Matcha that I whisk into matcha lattes at home each morning.
What’s the one beauty product you wish more people knew about?
Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Away Concealer. It honestly is magic and hides all the sleepless nights and early mornings. I also love Bobbi Brown’s Smokey Eye mascara – they are the only two makeup products that I use religiously.
