The Arab Fashion Council To Premiere Its Inaugural Fashion Week For Men This January

The Arab Fashion Council is partnering with Facebook to feature the Middle East’s first men’s fashion week January 28 – 30^th. After this premier, Arab Men’s Fashion Week will take place twice a year each January and June to coincide with the menswear fashion week calendar.

“As the only official fashion week established within the region, The Arab Fashion Council is thrilled to launch Arab Fashion Week- Men’s and to begin a new journey to shape the future of the emerging menswear market across the Arab world both by nurturing the creativity of regional designers and, through our continued support to international designers wishing to explore opportunities within the region,” said Jacob Abrian, Founder and CEO of The Arab Fashion Council- in a statement.

Designers from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Iran and Qatar will participate in the week, fulfilling the goal of the Arab Fashion Council of having a sustainable platform to showcase and highlight talent across the Arab world for established and up and coming menswear designers.

The Arab Fashion Council is the world’s largest non-profit fashion council and INGO for the Arab world, with twenty-two-member states from the Arab League. Working in partnership with the The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, the French body that oversees Paris Fashion Week and Haute Couture Week, will send four emerging menswear designers from Men’s Paris Fashion Week to participate in this first ever Men’s Arab Fashion Week.

“Emerging brands express a fashion forward view on the world,” said Serge Carreira in a statement. “We are pleased to present some of these talented designers from the Paris Fashion Week® calendar in Dubai at Arab Fashion Week-Men’s, to allow them to increase their global reach.” Carreira is the Head of Emerging Brands Initiative for the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

In all honesty, Arab menswear is not known. Men in the region are known moreso for their acting and singing careers, when it comes to creative talent. And men’s style has been expressed through the lens of luxury cars. But the Arab Fashion Council recognized the rise of international streetwear brands entering the Middle East market, with men expressing their style, preferences and personality through fashion. The council is dedicated to the principles of equality and progress across the region.

Released in a statement: “Men’s Arab Fashion Week will begin on January 28^th with designers premiering their collections through their individual expressions of digital creativity on Facebook Live and Instagram Live, allowing 2 billion users all around the world to view and pre-order the designer’s collections direct through Instagram Shopping and the ByTribute luxury marketplace.”
